Why Turn Off Find My?

While Find My is essential for locating lost or stolen devices, disabling it has its reasons:
  1. Device Recovery: If you lose your device, Find My helps you locate it on a map, play a sound, and more. Disabling it makes recovery more challenging.
  2. Activation Lock: Find My includes Activation Lock, preventing unauthorized use of your device. Turning it off removes this protection.
  3. Selling or Trading In: Before selling, giving away, or trading in your device, you must turn off Find My.

Important Notes:

  • Deleting the Find My app: Even if you delete the Find My app, your location is still shared with those you’ve previously authorized.
  • Reinstalling Find My: To stop sharing your location, reinstall the Find My app and disable location sharing.
Remember, turning off Find My is a crucial step when parting ways with your Apple devices. It ensures a smooth transition for the next owner and maintains your privacy.
